Gloucester Rugby have confirmed the signing of experienced Rugby World Cup-winning lock Jean Kleyn, who will join the Club ahead of the 2026/27 season.
A powerful and uncompromising presence in the engine room, Kleyn brings a wealth of experience at the highest level of the game, representing both Ireland (residency) and South Africa (birth) at the highest level of the game, winning the 2023 Rugby World Cup with the latter.
Renowned for his physicality, work rate, and leadership, the 6’8’’ 32-year-old adds significant quality and depth to Gloucester’s forward pack.
His arrival underlines Gloucester Rugby’s ambition and intent to compete at the top end of the Gallagher PREM.
Director of Rugby, George Skivington, said: “Jean is a player I’ve admired for a long time. He brings real edge, experience, and a winning mentality, which will be invaluable for our group.
“His physical presence and professionalism will raise standards across the squad, and we’re excited to welcome him to Kingsholm.”
Speaking on the move, Kleyn added: “I’m thrilled to be joining Gloucester Rugby next season. It’s a club with incredible history and a passionate fan base, and the vision shared with me really matched what I was looking for in the next chapter of my career.
“I can’t wait to get started, meet the supporters, and give everything I have for this team.”
Kleyn will link up with the squad in the summer, as preparations begin for the new campaign.
