Harlequins have announced that Academy product Luke Wallace has signed a new deal with the Club
The 31-year-old has recommitted his future to the Club as the Quins centurion looks to add to his 186 appearances in the Famous Quarters over two stints at The Stoop.
Making an explosive impact as he first emerged within the senior team during the 2011/12 campaign, Wallace was shortlisted for the LV= Breakthrough and Land Rover Discovery of the Season awards in his first senior year.
Wallace had spells away from Harlequins between stints in South West London, joining Coventry in the summer of 2019 before switching to Leicester Tigers ahead of the 2020/21 season. In May 2021, Wallace returned to the Quarters and helped Harlequins secure the Club’s second Gallagher Premiership title.
A long-time servant of the Club and a man well-versed with the Harlequins Way, Wallace is one of a select group of players to have helped to lift both of the team’s Premiership wins, first in 2012 before the eventual 2021 title.
“It’s great to sign on again with Quins.” Wallace said. “It’s been fantastic to be back at this club over the last two seasons and I’m delighted to recommit. This is my boyhood club and I’m always proud to pull on the jersey.
“This is a special team that has proved its quality as the only team to retain a top-four spot from last season. It’s exciting to have the chance to go back-to-back in the Premiership, and further again next year.”
HARLEQUINS DEPARTURES
#1. Huw Jones to Glasgow Warriors
The 28-year-old will join Danny Wilson's squad following a season with reigning English champions Harlequins.
#2. Hugh Tizard to Saracens
The second-rower burst on to the scene in recent years at the Twickenham Stoop, and has made 27 appearances for the West Londoners despite being just 21 years of age.
Standing at 6ft 5” and weighing 120kg he will add considerable size to the pack which already includes the likes of Maro Itoje, Nick Isiekwe, Tim Swinson and Callum Hunter-Hill in his position.
#3. Matt Symons (Retiring)
Symons has played over 80 times for Quins since joining in 2018, helping them win last year's Premiership title.
The 32-year-old has also had spells at Wasps, London Irish and the Chiefs in New Zealand, who he captained.
#4. Joe Gray (Retiring)
The first player to win every domestic trophy, Gray has played integral roles in three Gallagher Premiership titles, one Heineken Champions Cup, one Challenge Cup, one Greene King IPA Championship, two LV Cups and one British and Irish Cup during his time with Harlequins and Saracens.
