Leicester Tigers ace George Ford opens talks with Premiership rival

Leicester Tigers fly-half George Ford has reportedly opened talks with a Gallagher Premiership rival, according to the Telegraph.

The report suggest that ‘Sale Sharks are increasingly confident of signing the England fly-half George Ford who is mulling a shock move away from Premiership leaders Leicester Tigers.’

It goes on to say: ‘The lure of returning to his north-west roots is understood to be a strong pull for Ford, who frequently returns to his home town of Saddleworth from his flat in Leicester.’

Sale are in the market for a new number 10 after their current first choice AJ MacGinty confirmed he’s leaving the AJ Bell to join Bristol Bears.

The Sharks attempted to sign Ford once before in 2017 when the fly-half left Bath, but at that time they were outbid by a desperate Leicester Tigers.

Ford has also been linked with moves overseas since he was dropped by England head coach Eddie Jones, although sources close to the player suggest he’s still keen to add to his 76 caps.
