Leicester Tigers confirms coaches departure to rugby league

Strength and Conditioning Lead Matt Parr will depart Leicester Tigers in the new year to join rugby league club Catalans Dragons as Head of Performance.

The former professional player joined the Strength & Conditioning team at Leicester Tigers during the 2015/16 campaign, which doubled as his final season as a member of the club’s senior squad.

As well as Tigers, Parr played for Sale Sharks, Saracens and London Irish.

Parr began in the role of Senior Strength & Conditioning Coach in June 2016 before being promoted to Strength & Conditioning Lead ahead of the 2020/21 season under Head of Physical Performance Aled Walters.

Speaking about the new opportunity, Parr said: “I am very excited to join the Catalans Dragons, this is a great opportunity to join a great club and build on the successes of last season.”

Looking back on his time in Leicester, he added: “I have been fortunate enough to have been a part of Leicester Tigers staff for six and a half years and have loved my time here, through thick and thin, and have gained so much from this experience.”
