“New Exeter star” – Zinzan Brooke’s son makes man of the match debut for new club

Lucas Brooke, a former England U20 international and the son of the legendary All Black Zinzan Brooke, showcased his exceptional skills on the rugby field this weekend.

He earned the title of the match’s standout player while playing for Exeter University, as they dominated the Hornets with a commanding scoreline of 68-19.

Despite his impressive rugby pedigree, Lucas Brooke found himself without a club earlier this year due to the abrupt dissolution of London Irish. A versatile flanker, he honed his rugby talents during his youth with Windsor Rugby Club and possesses the ability to excel in various roles across the back row.

Lucas Brooke’s rugby journey also includes representing Berkshire at the county level, where he consistently displayed his prowess. Additionally, during his time at Wellington College, he was a regular fixture on the school’s rugby team.

On the international stage, Lucas Brooke’s career has been marked by his appearances with England under-20s. He made his debut in the 2021 Under 20 Six Nations, immediately leaving his mark by contributing with a try in a memorable 38-22 victory over France under-20s during his debut match.

The loose forward’s stock continued to rise in the following 2021/22 season, making his London Irish debut as well as representing his country in two further tournaments.

He started against Leicester Tigers in the pool stages of the Premiership Rugby Cup, whilst also making two further appearances for England under-20s in the 2022 Under 20 Six Nations and touring with the side in the 2022 Under 20 Six Nations Summer Series.
