It’s not often referee Nigel Owens is outdone when it comes to witty one-liners but the rugby referee may have finally met his match this week from a very unlikely source.
Owens, who was honoured for his services to sport with an MBE last year, was attending a lunch at Buckingham Palace with the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh.
Phillip, who attended the Rugby World Cup with the current RFU patron Prince Harry, had a distinct issue to raise with the now famous referee.

Owens, who took charge of the 2015 Rugby World Cup final, took to Twitter after his trip to the palace to share his amusing tale.
