“Not good” – Eddie Jones gives update on Maro Itoje

England lock Maro Itoje was replaced after being knocked out after a tackle went wrong against the Wallabies.

The Saracens lock received swift on-field treatment with the game quickly stopped and was able to walk off the field for a head injury assessment (HIA).

He was replaced by Leicester’s Ollie Chessum, who will likely replace the England lock in the starting XV next weekend.

“The medical situation with Maro is that he will be out next weekend,” England head coach Eddie Jones confirmed.

THREE PLAYERS EDDIE JONES SHOULD DROP:

Despite winning the second test against the Wallabies, there are still a number of changed Eddie Jones should make ahead of the series decider next weekend.

England produced an aggressive and resilient display to beat Australia in the second Test in Brisbane and take the three-match series to a decider.

#1. Marcus Smith

Telegraph 5/10: “There is no doubt about his talent, no doubt about his potential; there is also no doubt that he was England’s least impressive back, the sin-binning indicative of England’s wobble.”

Rugby Pass 5.5/10: “With his team already under the pump Smith was sin-binned at the worst possible moment for a brainless deliberate knock-down.”

Replacement: Joe Marchant with Owen Farrell moving to fly-half
