Owen Farrell hailed for classy moment of sportsmanship

We saw the best and worst of England captain Owen Farrell yesterday as Saracens secured a home Premiership semi-final with a 42-38 win over Northampton at StoneX Stadium.

Early in the opening 40 he controversially escaped punishment yet again for a trademark high hit on Northampton Saints Alex Mitchell.

However, he went viral for the right reasons as he pleaded with the referee Matthew Carley not to sin-bin Saints man Lewis Ludlam for making contact with his head.

The referee ultimately ignored Farrell before yellow carding Ludlam, which was disappointing to see as the visitors were already down to 14 after Alex Coles yellow card moments earlier.
