Image-Rights Payments Under the Microscope

The inquiry focuses on image-rights payments made to Dupont over a period spanning close to a decade — arrangements that critics believe may have been used to bypass the league’s salary-cap regulations.

According to L’Équipe, the payments total around €1.8 million to Dupont via a company linked to Toulouse. A further €170,000 is also said to have been paid under similar agreements to his France teammate Anthony Jelonch.

Salary Cap Breach Could Trigger Sporting Sanctions

The central question for the LNR is whether those image-rights deals artificially inflated player earnings beyond what is permitted under the Top 14 salary cap.

Should Toulouse be found to have exceeded the cap by more than the allowed margin — reportedly around €275,000 this season — sanctions could extend beyond financial penalties, with league points deductions a real possibility.
