Retiring Bristol Bears star joins coaching staff

Bristol Bears have confirmed that Nick Fenton-Wells has been appointed as Team Manager for the 2019/20 campaign.

The 32-year -old – who received the Premiership Community Player of the Year on Wednesday evening – joins Pat Lam’s backroom staff on June 1st.

Fenton-Wells retired following an eight-year professional career, including three seasons at Ashton Gate.

Director of Rugby, Lam said: “Nick has a detailed understanding of our culture and vision. He epitomises that commitment to our community and we believe he will be a phenomenal Team Manager. 

“When we revealed the appointment to the squad in a team meeting, there was a fantastic reaction and a standing ovation for Nick – that underlines how much he is trusted and respected by the group.

“Nick has worked tirelessly as part of our leadership team and with our community programmes, so we’re delighted to see him take on this new challenge and strive for world class standards as part of the management team.”
