RUCK’s Premiership Predictions: Saracens’ winning run to continue while Falcons record surprise back-to-back victories

RUCK are predicting a second consecutive win for Newcastle Falcons as they take on London Irish in what could be a season-defining contest at the Madejski Stadium on Sunday.

The site also predicts Saracens to edge past Harlequins and keep their place at the top of the table while challengers Exeter and Leicester will keep up their top four chances by both picking up wins themselves.

We also tip Wasps to get their season back on track with a win at home against Worcester Warriors.

Exeter

Exeter Chiefs v Gloucester Rugby (Saturday, 15:00)

The Chiefs had a bit of a slip up against Saints, but I think they’ll bounce back at the first attempt against Gloucester – as long as they play their way and not change.

Exeter have lost two of their last three games though while Gloucester are unbeaten in their last five fixtures

However, the Cherry and Whites have won just one away game in their last nine trips in Aviva Premiership Rugby: the 39-27 win at Newcastle Falcons on the opening week of the season, which makes the hosts our favourites on Saturday.

Sarries

Harlequins v Saracens (Saturday, 15:00)

Harlequins have won just one of their last 14 matches with Saracens in all competitions, and with Sarries yet to concede a try away from home they look set to extend their winning run at the Stoop to six games.

The hosts, though, have not lost in any competition on home soil so far this term, however, Saracens’ perfect start to the new season continued last weekend with their victory over Leicester Tigers last week – an eighth successive Aviva Premiership Rugby win since the beginning of the campaign.

Leicester Tigers v Northampton Saints (Saturday, 15:15, Live on BT Sports 1/1HD)

I wasn’t overall impressed with Northampton against Exeter; they didn’t look great – but in fairness they did get the result.

Nevertheless, I can’t see anything but an easy Leicester win here.

Each club won its respective home game when the two East Midlands rivals clashed in Aviva Premiership Rugby last season whilst Northampton have not been victorious at Welford Road in any competition since a 10-9 win in Premiership Rugby in February 2007.

London Irish v Newcastle Falcons (Sunday, 13:00, Live on BT Sports 1/1HD)

This will be a brilliant game with everything on the line.

I watched Newcastle scrap and claw their way to their first win of the season as they deservedly overcame Bath, while the Exiles are also improving steadily, making this a crucial early-season clash in the battle for survival.

The Tynesiders have not been successful at Madejski Stadium in Premiership Rugby since a visit in November 2009, however, following on from last week Dean Richards may upset the odds with a narrow victory.

WaspsvWorc

Wasps’ v Worcester Warriors (Sunday, 14:00)

For a team of Wasps’ stature, the money, the facilities, the squad and everything, how they can be lingering close to the bottom of the Aviva Premiership after eight matches is totally baffling.

But this should be a good game with Warriors looking to upset the odds again after already overcoming Northampton earlier this season.

The Warriors, though, have now lost their last seven fixtures in all competitions since beating La Rochelle 19-3 at Sixways in round 1 of the European Challenge Cup while have also lost all six away games they have played in all competitions this season.

The hosts simply have to win and will be the heavy favourites due to the visitors’ poor record on the road.
