Scotland flanker Hamish Watson has been selected for the British and Irish Lions squad to take on South Africa.
Everyone’s favourite Scot; you can’t help but admire him. In a game of giants, surrounded by enormous people, he doesn’t take no for an answer.
Such a tremendous ball-carrier, so physical, and a ferocious competitor. You just know he’ll be a great Lion.

#1. Nickname
Pinball – one of Watson’s two nicknames along with the slightly less imaginative but more common ‘Mish’ – fits Scotland’s openside flanker perfectly.
#2. Leicester Tigers
Before moving to Scotland to take up a central contract with the national sevens squad in 2011, Watson was a part of the Leicester Tigers Academy. While playing for Scotland Sevens, he was approached by Edinburgh’s Elite Development Programme and he signed his first senior deal with the club in 2014.

The Scotland back-rower was born in Manchester and despite his Scottish sounding name, he Qualified to play for them. through his grandparents. Watson represented the national U19, U20 and sevens teams before stepping up to the senior side.
#4. Family life
He married long-term girlfriend Lucy in summer 2019. Lucy is thought to be an interior designer, and the pair have a baby daughter, called Honor.
#5. Gamer
Watson loves powering up his console, playing a lot of Fortnite and the legendary Rugby 08 for PS2.
