Wales international Louis Rees-Zammit has been selected for the British and Irish Lions squad to take on South Africa.

At 12 he was told by Cardiff Blues he wasn’t good enough to make it as a pro rugby player , while at 16 and studying at Hartpury College he was told he’d never win a Wales cap Yet at 18 he had scored five tries in his first three starts for Gloucester and by 19 had played in four Tests for Wales.

The exciting Gloucester youngster has been timed at 11.1 seconds for 100m and has frequently shown defenders a clean pair of heels with his thrilling try exploits in the English Premiership.

#4. Brother cashes in
Taylor Rees-Zammit had so much faith in his younger brother’s ability to take the rugby world by storm that he placed a bet four years ago that his sibling would be chosen for this summer’s tour of South Africa. As a result he picked up almost £1,000,
according to a report from The Rugby Paper.His older brother hasn’t missed a game his brother Louis has played, home or away, for the past three years.

Rees-Zammit, who is a die hard Manchester United supporter, used to go out with Paul Scholes' daughter, with the Old Trafford great following his rugby career closely. Part of that involved the 66-times capped England footballer trying to persuade Rees-Zammit to wear the white jersey, instead of the red.
