With the Gallagher Premiership and the Guinness Pro 14 kicking off over the weekend there were plenty of talking points and great moments to take note of.
Here are six of the best moments from the weekend's rugby action...
1. Best try
Sale Sharks’ Marland Yarde made it a return to remember against former club Harlequins with a sizzling 50-yard dash.
2. Best assist
Danny Cipriani put his off-field problems behind him as he played a crucial role in helping his new Gloucester side to an opening round victory in the Gallagher Premiership.
Gloucester beat the Northampton Saints 27-16 at Kingsholm on Saturday to get their season off to a good start.
However, all the headlines from this game have gone to Cipriani who produced a stunning pass to Charlie Sharples for a game-changing try.
The 30-year-old received the ball on the 22m line before sending a floating skip pass to Sharples on the right wing.
3. Best tackle
A stand-out moment from the clash between Racing and Clermont this weekend came when Donnacha Ryan thundered into Loni Uhila after a hospital pass left him exposed.
4. Best individual performance
Matt Kvesic, so long the coming man and recently in danger of becoming the forgotten, rediscovered his best form as he shone for the Chiefs as they smashed Leicester Tigers 40-6.
The renowned defensive work was in evidence as ever but here Kvesic brandished an attacking dimension to his game, his breaks paving the way for both Exeter’s first-half scores and his close-quarter physicality earning the fifth for himself.
5. Funniest moment
Referee Matthew Carley gets caught up in the action during the Premiership clash between Gloucester and Northampton at Kingsholm.
6. Best kick
An amazing Stuart Hogg drop-goal from 40 metres rescued the Warriors from a sticky situation in the Showgrounds on Saturday, completing a man of the match performance with ball in hand and with the boot.
Despite tries from Tommy Seymour, George Turner and Ryan Wilson, Warriors trailed 26-17 with 20 minutes left and had Adam Hastings in the sin-bin.
A late Adam Ashe try and those three points from Hogg’s boot rescued Glasgow on a day when ill-discipline and raggedness threatened to undermine them.
