The All Blacks were made to work for their victory with a Wallaby side looking to end New Zealand’s 51 consecutive victories at Eden Park. The hosts looked in control scoring three early tries before a Wallaby revival made the last 10 minutes a nervy one. Player of the match Cam Roigard scored twice, including at the end to steer his side to a precious victory. 

Caleb Clarke got the first try inside five minutes after relentless pressure from New Zealand. A special moment for the Clarke family after his dad sung the National anthem. James O’Connor and Beauden Barrett exchanged penalties before Leroy Carter went over for his second try in his second test. 

The Wallabies started slowly in their first three matches and history was repeating itself as Roigard got the third try of the day after a long spell of pressure. Unfortunately for the All Blacks, Barrett went down clutching his arm and was forced off the pitch. 

Billy Pollard got his first test try to give the Wallabies a bit of hope, a powerful driving maul. The hosts were forced into making a second change as Ethan De Groot went off with a head injury. 

As previously mentioned, the Wallabies have shown great fight in all their games so far, fighting back after being down by double digit figures and Harry Potter crossed over just before half time to make it a 3-point match at the break. 

Two successive penalties gave the All Blacks a bit of breathing space and it punished the Wallabies and O’Connor who failed to find touch with a penalty. 

Eden Park has been a fortress for the All Blacks since 1994, but pressure was mounting, and a Carlo Tizzano try ensured that the last 10 minutes would be highly intense. 

New Zealand looked for a quick reply and came close to the line. Harry Potter was sin binned for an infringement at the ruck and moments later, Roigard got the game winning try after good work from Tupaea. 

The All Blacks looked hungry for more points to conclude but in the end, they settled with their nine point victory over the Wallabies

Ethan De Groot: 5/10 -Suffered a nasty blow to the head while attempting to prevent a Wallaby try. 

Codie Taylor: 6.5/10 Veteran lasted 65 minutes. Accurate with his lineout throws. Put in a solid shift throughout the game. 

Tyrell Lomax: 5.5/10 Soft hands in attack but was part of an All Black front three that didn’t look comfortable at scrum time with the Wallabies giving the All Blacks a tough fight. 

Fabian Holland:  7/10 - A nuance at the lineout, using his huge body to limit the Wallabies maul threats. 

Tupou Vaa’i: 5.5/10 - Solid in set-piece and defence but offered little impact around the park. 

Simon Parker: 5.5/10 – A quiet game for the back row 

Ardie Savea: 7/10 - Won a crucial penalty to deny the Wallabies after made an incredible break. The captain was dangerous as ever for his side. 

Wallace Sititi: 7/10 – Slowed down Wallaby ball at the breakdown. Didn’t carry as much but put in a big shift. 

Cam Roigard:  9/10 Quick ball delivery, powerful runner. Got a try on his return from injury having missed the opening three rounds.  

Beauden Barrett: 5.5/10 - Went off injured in the first half. 2/4 off the tee but ran with determination. 

Caleb Clarke: 6.5/10 Took under five minutes to score on his first All Black appearance of 2025. Went off injured at the start of the second half. 

Jordie Barrett: 7.5/10 By far one of his quieter games in the black jersey. Covered well to deny a potential try to the Wallabies, although the visitors scored 30 seconds later.

Billy Proctor: 5.5/10 – Put in a big defensive shift. Kept the threatening Suaalii quiet 

Leroy Carter: 8.5/10 Put in some big shots in the first half including a big hits on Suaalii and Ikitau, went over for his second test try showing why he’s an All Black. 

Will Jordan: 6.5/10 - Limited chances with the ball in hand but looked dangerous with the chances he had. 

Samisoni Taukei’aho: 6.5/10 – Looked hungry coming off the bench. Isolated at times but his appearance made a positive impact. 

Tamaiti Williams: 6.5/10 – Came on in the first half for the injured De Groot. 

Flecther Newell: 7/10 – Powerful prop, made a difference at scrum time, helping the All Blacks win a rare scrum penalty during the game. 

Patrick Tuipolotu: 6/10  

Peter Lakai: 6/10 - Came off the bench for his first All Black appearances since the end of year tests. 

Cortez Ratima: N/A 

Quinn Tupaea: 8/10 - Made a big difference off the bench. Charging runs and beating defenders. His clever run created the fourth, and game winning try. A performance worthy of starting at 13 next time. 

Damian McKenzie: 7.5/10 - Came on earlier than expected to replace the injured Barrett. Slotted his kicks which helped his side regain their dominance.
