Argentina has officially submitted a joint bid to host the 2035 Rugby World Cup alongside Uruguay, Chile and Brazil.
The four South American nations have taken a major step towards bringing the men's tournament to the continent, submitting the required technical information to World Rugby.
The bid is being led by the Argentine Rugby Union and would see matches staged across all four countries if it is successful.
It would be a landmark moment for the sport, with South America having never previously hosted the men's Rugby World Cup.
Argentina have established themselves as one of the leading nations in the game, reaching the World Cup semi-finals on three occasions, while Uruguay and Chile have also continued to make progress on the international stage.
The ambitious proposal comes as attention gradually begins to turn towards future editions of the tournament, with the 2027 Rugby World Cup in Australia now less than a year away.

Huge stadiums included
There would be no shortage of iconic venues available to organisers.
Eight stadiums have been put forward in Argentina, including the Monumental and José Amalfitani Stadium in Buenos Aires.
Venues in La Plata, Córdoba, Santiago del Estero, Salta, Mendoza and Rosario are also part of the proposal.
Perhaps most eye-catching is Brazil's Maracanã in Rio de Janeiro, one of the most famous sporting venues on the planet.
Chile have put forward the Estadio Nacional in Santiago, while Uruguay's proposed venue is the historic Estadio Centenario in Montevideo.
The Uruguayan Rugby Union confirmed that the four countries have a combined population of around 283 million and stressed the region's experience of staging major international sporting events.
When will the host be decided?
There is still a long way to go before South America knows whether its bid has been successful.
World Rugby launched the formal 2035 host selection process in 2025, with both individual countries and multi-nation bids permitted.
Site visits and feasibility assessments are expected to take place before a preferred host is identified in May 2027.
The final decision will then be made by the World Rugby Council in November 2027.
Argentina's bid is part of an increasingly global battle to stage rugby's biggest tournament, with Japan and Spain also previously reported to have expressed interest.
For Argentina, Uruguay, Chile and Brazil, however, victory would mean something completely new: bringing the men's Rugby World Cup to South America for the first time.
