Ban confirmed for England wing Immanuel Feyi-Waboso - will miss Summer tour of Argentina

An Independent Foul Play Review Committee (FPRC) was convened to assess both incidents as part of World Rugby’s expedited off-field sanction process, currently being trialed during the July test window.

England winger Immanuel Feyi-Waboso has been handed a two-match suspension, following a review that determined his actions contravened Law 9.13 (dangerous tackle). The committee, chaired by Christopher Quinlan KC and supported by Donal Courtney (Ireland) and Stefan Terblanche (South Africa), found Feyi-Waboso’s tackle involved a high degree of danger.

Initially proposed as a three-match suspension, the ban was reduced to two matches conditional on Feyi-Waboso’s successful completion of World Rugby’s Coaching Intervention Programme, which the player has accepted.

As a result, the 22-year-old will miss England’s upcoming fixtures against Argentina on July 5 and 12 but will be eligible to return for the match against the USA on July 19.

Meanwhile, French forward Cameron Woki, who had been red-carded for a dangerous clearout under Law 9.20(a), was referred for a full disciplinary hearing held on June 24.

Chaired by Adam Casselden SC, alongside panel members John Langford (Australia) and Valeriu Toma (Romania), the Independent Disciplinary Committee reviewed multiple angles of the incident and concluded that Woki’s action did not warrant a red card.

The panel determined there was insufficient danger in the clearout to meet the threshold required by World Rugby’s Head Contact Process. As such, the red card was dismissed, and Woki is free to resume playing immediately.
