15. Santiago Carreras – 5
14. Henry Arundell – 5
Discipline questionable. Defence shaky early on; dropped a high ball which led to the second try. Aerial ability looks like a weak point in his game. Came off his wing well to create space for Muir’s second try with his pace. A silly chip over the top led to lost possession. Two ball strips in the second half helped make amends for his first-half defence.
13. Louis Hennessey – 7.5
Has barely started this season and has mostly featured on the wing. Got plenty of early touches. Made a great line break after 20 minutes, with only Louis Bielle-Biarrey stopping him from scoring. Took his try well on the 50-minute mark, beating two defenders with sharp footwork.
12. Ollie Lawrence – 5
Poor grubber kick turned over possession in Bordeaux’s 22, followed by another penalty not long after.
11. Will Muir – 8
Scored a well-taken early try, then added a second in the first half with a fantastic diving finish in the corner. Came off after 65 minutes with a shoulder injury. Bath’s best back on the day.
10. Finn Russell – 5
First conversion went in off the post; missed the second from the corner. Quiet by his standards. Finished 2/3 from the tee.
9. Ben Spencer – 6
Fully fit? His varied kicking game is vital to Bath’s success. Excellent early on, including a perfectly weighted cross-kick assist for the first try. Swung momentum on 63 minutes with a huge clearance kick.
8. Alfie Barbeary – 5
Solid carrying throughout. Won a turnover on Bordeaux’s try line but made a few first-half errors.
7. Guy Pepper – 6
Bumped off early by Moefana. Penalised for not rolling away, which led to an easy three points just before half-time.
6. Josh Bayliss (150th Cap) – 6
Very busy on both sides of the ball. Produced a key maul turnover on 60 minutes to shift momentum.
5. Charlie Ewels – 4
Similar to Roux: solid enough but no standout moments. Yellow carded for collapsing a maul, which led to a try.
4. Quinn Roux – 5
Quiet game. A few carries and lineout takes, with no major mistakes.
3. Thomas Du Toit – 6
Usually comes off the bench. Put in a solid shift with plenty of work, but no standout moments.
2. Tom Dunn – 4
Snuffed out a classic Jalibert chip-and-chase with a great read in the first half. Solid at the set piece overall, though a few lineout throws were lost. Some handling errors. Subbed off after 46 minutes.
1. Beno Obano – 5
Won a scrum penalty in the first half but was beaten badly in the scrum in the build-up to Bordeaux’s third try.
REPLACEMENTS:
16. Kepueli Tuipulotu – 4
Came on early in the second half. Overthrew a lineout.
17. Francois van Wyk – 4
18. Vilikesa Sela – 3
Came on with seven minutes remaining.
19. Ted Hill – 4
20. Sam Underhill – 4
21. Tom Carr-Smith – 5
Given five minutes at the end and scored a try.
22. Tom de Glanville – 4
Came on for Muir on the wing after 65 minutes.
23. Miles Reid – 4
