“Best in France”- Jack Willis claims Top 14 Player of the Season

After scoring two tries in the Top 14 final to help Toulouse claim the Bouclier de Brennus in June, Jack Willis succeeds Antoine Dupont to win the Top 14 Player of the Season for 2024/2025 on Monday evening at La Nuit du Rugby ceremony in Paris.

The former Wasps player joined the Stade Ernest-Wallon side back in 2022 after the club went into administration, but despite his move to France he’s been unable to improve on his 14 appearances for England.

Willis recently signed a four-year deal with Toulouse, which takes him up until the summer of 2029. But, the contract itself includes a break clause for the 2027-28 season, which could allow him to move to an English club and be eligible for selection for the 2027 World Cup in Australia.

“I want to thank all my team-mates,” began Willis.

“They’re not just great players but great guys.

“The past three years have been a dream for me,” he added.

Zach Mercer now of Toulon was the last Englishman to win the award in 2022, with star-man of French rugby Dupont claiming back-to-back awards since then.

Elsewhere, Louis Bielle-Biarrey won the French international award, whilst Toulon’s Gael Drean was awarded the Breakthrough Player of the Year, but didn’t play in his side’s 33-17 triumph over Pau at the weekend.

Whereas, Teani Feleu secured France’s Women’s Player of the Season after her side finished fourth at the 2025 World Cup in England. Newly promoted Montauban’s Jerome Bosviel won the Pro D2 award after helping his side reach the top division of French rugby after they put aside Grenoble 24-19 in Toulouse.
