Brian Moore accuses All Blacks of 'cheating' against England

Writing in his column for The Telegraph, Moore said: "England’s scrum got on the wrong side of the referee but, as pinpointed by Sky Sports’ co-commentator David Flatman, that was because Nika Amashukeli failed to notice that Ethan de Groot was illegally shifting outside Will Stuart and driving straight upwards.

"I am not knocking the Kiwi loosehead – you get away with what you can in the front row. However, to get a handle on this you either have to make it a flashpoint that the referee has to deal with, or Stuart has to bore into the opposition hooker and drive inside De Groot, both of which, by the way, are also illegal.

"It is not the MO of Borthwick to publicly complain about this sort of thing, but he should at least raise it via official channels in private."

He then went onto take aim at fly-half Marcus Smith over his goal kicking.

Moore wrote: "What needs to be understood is that to this small shift you have to add factors like breakdown mistakes.

"England were mostly good in this area but breakdown errors in the 45th, 53rd, 56th and 68th minutes added to their difficulties and because of these marginal losses they fell short.

"It would be correct to claim that had Marcus Smith kicked his goals England might have won but New Zealand also missed kicks. What must have disappointed Smith most is that he did not strike the ball well, on top of the inaccuracy."

Rugby Pass 2/10: "A bit of a shocker sadly. Showed inexperience with an overcooked kick to space early on which landed squarely in touch. Missed five tackles in total and simply walked into touch when receiving the ball near the Wallaby touchline. Not a day to remember."

Wales Online 5/10: "Put one kick out on the full while his loose punt up-field also resulted in Tom Wright scoring the decisive try for the Wallabies. Showed signs of his threat with ball in hand but it didn't come his way often enough."

Rugby Pass 5/10: "Inexcusable miss in front of the posts early in the second half, but bounced back immediately with some passes timed to absolute perfection as England scored their second. After being penned back in the first half due to New Zealand’s territorial supremacy, he was able to express himself much more after the break as England gained more control. Unfortunately, two kicks from five are the statistics that can define Test matches though, and that might well have been the case in Dunedin"

Telegraph 6/10: "Missed two sitters off the tee which England had to take. Didn’t love the grubber when England were attacking well but two slick passes before Feyi-Waboso’s score. Bottom line, the missed points were critical. "

While he was excellent with the offload that created Osborne’s try, majestic in finishing his own breakaway score which was cruelly ruled out by TMO and also in giving Baird his assist, he paid a very heavy price defensively for keeping a Pollard touchfinder in play as Kolbe scored. Then made the desperate choice of playing another Pollard kick from the in-goal area, costing the scrum that resulted in a penalty try"

BALLS 5/10: "He might not do the defence part of the game but when he’s on the ball he is incredible. Unlucky not to score in the 2nd half (his finish was incredible too!!).  Incredible skill to stay infield for the Osborne try.  But….. some really poor moments in defence and I won’t want to see the 2nd South African try again or the restart that led to South Africa’s 3rd try."

JOE 4/10: "Lost his battle against Cheslin Kolbe, falling off a couple of tackles against the quick-stepping wideman. He did produce the best moment of the match, doing unbelievably well to stay in touch and offload the ball to Jamie Osbourne for his first international try. 

"But then ruined any credit he had in the bank by doing the very same to set up a Kolbe try in the last quarter. And made matters worse by making a meal of a late South Africa kick-off which resulted in a penalty try."

Rugby Pass 3/10: "He was dominated at scrum time and looked out of his depth against a powerful Wallaby forward pack. Would have been relieved to exit the field shortly into the second half. Off at 41."

Wales Online 5/10: "Came under pressure at the scrum and was sent to the sin bin midway through the second half. Left the field injured after 42 minutes"

Planet Rugby 4/10: "Was sent to the sin-bin early doors, but luckily for him his team stepped up in his absence. Was also bested in the scrum on multiple occasions, as he was against South Africa."

Rugby Pass 5.5/10: "Missed a tackle anyone associated with England would have expected him to make on Perofeta in Ardie Savea’s try. One very costly error, but that’s all it takes at this level. England’s go-to man to crash into defenders in an epic battle with his counterpart Savea."

Telegraph 5/10: "Nice offload combining with Mitchell but given the slip by Perofeta and that missed tackle led to Savea’s score. Not his best though with a couple of soft mistakes."
