CHAMP: Round 4 - Nottingham return to winning ways as title race emerges

Another championship round saw every team give their all. With close encounters and major score lines, the action had everything. The table heats up as clear contenders emerge.
Nottingham 29-27 Richmond
Nottingham welcomed Richmond on Friday night. The contest was a tale of two halves as the home side started strong. In the second half, Richmond worked their way back into the game. A hat-trick from James Cherry was a major factor in Nottingham's victory. David Williams also scored. Richmond rallied with tries from Callum Grieve, Sam Pim, and Greg Kitson, but Nottingham held firm. Next, Nottingham will face Cambridge, while Richmond will take on Coventry.

Doncaster 34-31 Worcester Warriors
Worcester traveled to Castle Park for a tight game. Doncaster secured the victory, with Connor Edwards and Will Trewin crossing the line in the opening 40 minutes. Russell Bennett’s boot was crucial, as he slotted five penalties to build a healthy lead. Tries from Time Anstee and Jake Garside brought the Warriors back into the game, but Doncaster took the win. Doncaster will next face Bedford Blues on Friday night, while Worcester will play London Scottish.

At the moment, it looks like Ealing are unstoppable. The side remains unbeaten after a tremendous performance to overcome Coventry. It was a high-scoring contest between two strong teams. Peter Sullivan energised the first half with a quick hat-trick. Scores from Matt Cornish, David Bridge, and Jordan Holgate gave Ealing the lead at the break. In the second half, Ealing extended their advantage and stormed to another victory. They will look to keep their winning streak intact against Hartpury, while Coventry heads to Richmond.

The Bedford Blues demonstrated their quality by securing an emphatic victory over Ampthill. Bedford rose to the occasion away from home, racing to an imposing lead and never looking back. Tries from Dean Adamson and James Fish helped the Blues build a commanding advantage. The second half followed a similar story as Bedford achieved their most impressive victory of the season so far. Ampthill will seek redemption next time against Chinnor, and Bedford will welcome Doncaster.

London Scottish were looking to build off their first win of the season as they welcomed the Cornish Pirates. Arwel Robson, Ben Cambriani, and Arthur Relton gave their side the lead in the opening stages. The Pirates dominated possession and always looked in control. London Scottish did get on the board thanks to two tries from Murray Bellis. It was an impressive win for the Cornish Pirates. Attention will now turn to their contest against Caldy, whilst London Scottish go to Worcester.

Caldy 41-24 Cambridge
Along with Ealing, Caldy is still unbeaten, and that streak continued after an impressive win over Cambridge. Caldy stormed to an early lead with the first four scores. Thanks to Zach Nearchou, Cambridge tallied two tries before halftime. Matt Kilcourse and Reuben Logan capped off another victory for Caldy. They will look to maintain their winning ways as they journey to Cornwall, while Cambridge prepares for Nottingham.

Hartpury 25-19 Chinnor
Hartpury claimed victory after an engaging contest with Chinnor. The home side took an early lead with scores from Robert Smith and Oliver Allsopp. Nathan Chamberlain added momentum heading into the break and got another early in the second half. It was tight until the end, but Hartpury prevailed. Next, Hartpury faces a tough task against Ealing, and Chinnor will play Ampthill.
