Cheslin Kolbe has issued a statement after suffering a worrying injury during South Africa’s 29-24 victory over New Zealand at FNB Stadium.
The Springboks winger was forced from the field after just 17 minutes and later shared a photo from hospital, prompting concern among supporters.
Kolbe has now thanked fans for their messages while paying tribute to his wife for travelling to Johannesburg to support him.
“Thank you for all the messages and support,” he wrote on Instagram.
“Thank you to my wife for flying up to be here too and doing the most.
“All in God’s hands and purpose. Let’s go boys!”
Several Springboks responded with messages of support.
Ox Nche wrote: “Speedy recovery Oompa,” while Damian de Allende added: “Love you boeta.”
Captain Jesse Kriel and former teammate Michael Essien were also among those wishing Kolbe well.
Kolbe’s injury leaves him facing a race to recover before the final match of the four-Test series, with South Africa currently holding a 2-1 lead.
