Exeter Chiefs young duo of hooker Sol Moody and fly half Louie Sinclair have committed to Chiefs by signing new contracts.

Both youngsters joined Chiefs ahead of the 2023/24 season as part of a quartet of promising young students from Finborough School.
19-year-old Moody developed through the ranks of the school as well as gaining age-grade representation for Northampton Saints – a team for whom he featured in the U18 Premiership Cup Final.
Sinclair, also just 19, spent time away from Finborough in New Zealand at Hamilton Boys’ School – an institution well-known as the development ground for future All Blacks stars.
Director of Rugby Rob Baxter is excited to have both players commit to being a part of the next generation of Exeter Chiefs.
“We’re really pleased for these two young lads to be staying at Chiefs. They came to us to join our Academy a year or so ago after an initial trial period in which they went extremely well. We were delighted to be in the position to give them an opportunity last year.
“This season has been their first experience of playing senior rugby. They’ve worked extremely hard in training and extremely hard on the field to try to improve day by day. A good example of their effort is Sol recently being included in an England U19s selection.
“Both the lads we feel have a bright future in the game, so we’re delighted to extend their contracts. Hopefully this can be the start of a successful senior career for them.”
Both players will continue their progression through the Chiefs Academy system as they keep their focus on their education and a future spot in the Chiefs first team.
Four first team stars depart Exeter Chiefs:
Exeter Chiefs growing list of leavers for the end of the 2023/24 Premiership season has reached four with a number of internationals departing Sandy park.
#1. Alec Hepburn
Exeter Chiefs' loosehead prop Hepburn, who has represented both Scotland and England internationally, is set to depart the club at the end of the season.
Having debuted for Scotland during the Six Nations, Hepburn initially earned six caps for England before switching allegiances.
A pivotal figure for Exeter Chiefs in recent years, Hepburn played a significant role in their successes, including winning the Champions Cup in 2020 and two Gallagher Premiership titles.
Scarlets' head coach Dwayne Peel has been proactive in bolstering the team's front row, especially with Steffan Thomas departing for the Ospreys and rumors swirling around Wyn Jones' future.
With Hepburn's arrival, Scarlets aim to solidify their front row options, offering competition alongside Welsh international Kemsley Mathias, Sam O'Connor, and Josh Morse for the starting loosehead position in Llanelli next season.
#2. Jonny Gray
The 29-year-old lock’s contract at Exeter Chiefs expires at the end of the 2023/24 season and he looks set to depart Sandy Park when it does.
The 29-year-old’s departure from Sandy park, where he has been a senior figure in recent years, will be keenly felt in Devon.

Gray is set to add to an ever-growing list of Premiership stars leaving the league to join a Top 14 club.
Joe Simmonds, Sam Simmonds, Harry Williams, and Jack Nowell all left Exeter at the end of last season to take up contracts in the Top 14.
#3. Patrick Schickerling
Schickerling has become Glasgow Warriors’ first new signing ahead of the 2024/25 campaign, after the tight-head prop agreed to make the move to Scotstoun from Exeter Chiefs this summer.
The 25-year-old has put pen to paper on a multi-year deal ahead of the new season, with the club having already extended the deals of Scotland internationals Scott Cummings, Jamie Bhatti and Johnny Matthews – as well as Head Coach Franco Smith – during the 2023/24 season.
A dynamic ball-carrier in the loose in addition to providing a solid platform at the set-piece, the tight-head has made 35 appearances to date in Exeter colours, scoring seven tries in the process.
Namibian-born, the Walvis Bay High School product originally signed for Exeter in November 2018, having impressed for the Pumas in the Currie Cup in addition to representing Namibia at the 2018 World Rugby U20 Trophy in Romania.
“I’m very excited,” Schickerling told glasgowwarriors.org.
“I believe that my best years are still ahead of me, and I think that Glasgow’s style of play will suit me down to the ground – I enjoy my set-piece work, but I love to get my hands on the ball and I’d say I’m not your typical tight-head, so I’m keen to get involved as much as I can.
“I think Glasgow is one of the best places to be playing right now, which is why I’ve committed to a long-term deal. Talking to Franco and the coaching team, the fact that this club is so closely linked to the community is a massive selling point for me, and I’m excited to join a club that’s intent on challenging for domestic and European honours."
#4. Aidon Davis
The South African back-row will leave Exeter in the summer after two years with the Premiership club.
The 29-year-old will return to former club Cheetahs, having scored four tries in 25 appearances for Rob Baxter's Chiefs.
Davis was in the Exeter side that won last season's Premiership Rugby Cup and played in seven of Exeter's first eight league games this season.
He also played in last year's Champions Cup semi-final loss at La Rochelle.
"I've loved my taste of playing rugby in England," he told the club website.
"I've challenged myself in some of the top competitions in the world - the Gallagher Premiership and the Champions Cup - which has been a fantastic experience.
"It's been great fun to play for Exeter but I'm now really looking forward to heading home to South Africa and getting stuck back in with the Cheetahs."
