Eddie Jones recruits England legend ahead of Wales clash

Wilkinson famously struck the extra-time drop goal that clinched a 20-17 victory over Australia in the 2003 final – the nation’s only World Cup triumph – and also started the global showpiece four years later.

The 40-year-old works with Eddie Jones’ squad on an consultancy basis, offering his technical expertise on kicking 

England face Wales at Twickenham Stadium on Saturday 7 March (KO 4.45pm, live on ITV), in their fourth match of the Championship.

The group includes Mark Wilson, who has yet to feature in this year's competition, as well as Anthony Watson who has also not played for England since the Rugby World Cup.

1. Owen Farrell was not at first registered as a Farrell, but took mum Colleen’s family name of O’Loughlin. The couple married in 1995, changing Owen’s surname to Farrell the following year.

2. Ellis Genge suffers from the disability Dyspraxia. The condition affects the use of muscles. Different types of dyspraxia can affect writing, speech and other movements involved in learning. Forever inspiring us, the prop has gone onto help kids going through the same tough problems.

5. A talented all-round sportsman, Josh Hodge was part of the Preston North End academy from age seven and represented Great Britain at Under 21 level at the age of 15 in clay pigeon shooting. 

6. George Kruis was eligible to play for the Netherlands as his father, Leo, is Dutch.

7. Joe Marler began his career at Haywards Heath RFC in Sussex where he played in the same side as fellow England international Billy Twelvetrees.

8. Courtney Lawes is a product of Northampton Old Scouts, the same club that produced his former teammate Rob Milligan as well as Ben Cohen and Steve Thompson, amongst others. 

9. Maro Itoje as a schoolboy played several sports including basketball, football, rugby and athletics, representing England at U17 level in shot put.

10. After representing Scotland up until Under 18 level, centre Fraser Dingwall switched alligence to England while at the Saints academy and flourished last season being nominated for the Premiership Rugby Cup’s Breakthrough Player of the Season.

11. Back-rower Teimana Harrison began playing rugby at a young age, like many boys in New Zealand. Among his early accolades was captaining Rotorua Boys' High School, before moving to England and joining the Northampton Saints Academy in 2011

13. Northampton lock Alex Moon comes from a strong rugby family with his father Jon coaching Ipswich rugby club and aunt, Vickie a former physiotherapist for Leeds Rhinos and Yorkshire Carnegie. His uncle played for the rugby league side, Bradford Bulls.

14. Maro Itoje is the cousin of Bath's loosehead prop Beno Obano.

15. Owen Farrell celebrates every point he scores by linking his index fingers together to make a ‘JJ’ sign, the Joining Jack salute, Joining Jack being a charity dedicated to the needs of sufferers of Duchenne muscular dystrophy.^[ Farrell is also a patron for Duchenne muscular dystrophy charity Duchenne UK.

16. Harlequins failed to offer Joe Launchbury a professional contract aged 18, so he left the club and joined then National League 2 South side Worthing.

17. Speedster Elliot Daly was a talented cricketer as a teenager, representing England Under-15s and Surrey at various age-group levels. He was an all-rounder, with fast bowling his forte, and appeared good enough to possibly make the first-class county grade before he chose rugby union.

18. Prop Mako Vunipola started playing rugby in Wales, and played alongside brother Billy for New Panteg RFC. 

19. Number 10 George Ford played for England Under 18s at just 15 years of age.

20. Harry Williams still drives a 1999 Nissan Micra. He studied English and sports science at Loughborough University - and scraped a 2:1 by 0.1 per cent! Was part of the same Whitgift Daily Mail Cup-winning side as Elliot Daly and Marland Yarde.
