Joe Batley to captain
Bristol Bears second-row forward Joe Batley will lead the side, with the squad assembling at the University of Bath today to begin preparations under head coach Mark Mapletoft.
The squad features seven players with senior England caps: Charlie Atkinson, Jamie Blamire, Ollie Hassell-Collins, Max Ojomoh, Tom Pearson, Ethan Roots, and Adam Radwan. Of these, five have prior England A experience, highlighting a blend of youth and experience in Mapletoft’s setup.
Pathway talent in focus
Twenty-four of the 30 players have progressed through the England Men’s Player Pathway, representing age-grade sides. Key figures include U20 Elite Player Squad member Noah Caluori, and 2024 World Rugby U20 Championship winners Afolabi Fasogbon, Angus Hall, Sean Kerr, Nathan Michelow, Vilikesa Sela, and Olamide Sodeke.
Selection of both the wider squad and matchday 23 has been a collaborative process, guided by senior men’s head coach Steve Borthwick and RFU Executive Director of Performance Rugby Conor O’Shea.
Coaching structure
Mapletoft will be supported by:
- James Lightfoot Brown – Attack Coach
- Adam Powell – Defence Coach
- James Craig – Forwards Coach
- Matt Ferguson – Scrum Coach
The coaching group will work alongside pathway and PREM Rugby Strength & Conditioning, Medical, and Operational staff for the fixture.
Broadcast information
England Men’s A vs. All Blacks XV will be live on Premier Sports 1, with coverage from 13:10 GMT.
Mapletoft on squad selection
“We have assembled a dynamic young group of players aiming to excel whilst wearing the rose. I’d like to congratulate all selected players and staff involved.
Ten players from last season’s England A squad have already progressed to senior debuts – these fixtures matter for the future of English rugby.
The connection from age-grade to senior setup is stronger than ever, and we are committed to building on this over the coming weeks.”

A limited number of tickets remain for the All Blacks XV fixture: adult tickets from £25, U16 from £15 (booking fees apply).
