England fly-half George Ford has turned down a huge payday from rugby’s rebel league R360 to sign a new three-year contract with Sale Sharks, according to

The 32-year-old — who co-captained England and wore the No.10 jersey throughout the summer tour of Argentina — has committed his future to the Gallagher Prem side beyond the 2027 Rugby World Cup.

Reports suggest Ford could have pocketed close to £1 million a season had he joined R360, but instead he’s chosen to stay loyal to Sale and continue playing in Manchester.

Rugby scribe Nik Simon has also revealed that Eddie Jones had reportedly sounded out Ford about a move to Japan, while former club Leicester Tigers were also said to be circling.

His decision comes as a huge boost for Alex Sanderson’s side, especially after playmaker Rob du Preez confirmed his departure to France for next season.

Ford will rejoin Steve Borthwick’s England squad next week as preparations begin for the autumn internationals.

Currently, the Sale star is the Premiership’s standout fly-half, with Fin Smith and Marcus Smith yet to feature this season after limited involvement in the 2025 Lions tour.
