"Exciting" - England hopeful signs new contract at Prem champions

Hill, 26, joined Bath in 2023 and quickly established himself as a central figure in the forward pack, bringing a combination of power, athleticism and versatility to the Blue, Black and White. He made his debut off the bench against Northampton Saints, marking the occasion with both his first cap and his first victory for the club. Since then, he has amassed 63 appearances and has featured prominently in some of the most significant matches of Bath’s recent history.

During the 2024 to 2025 campaign, Hill started both the EPCR Challenge Cup final and the Gallagher Premiership final, underlining his importance to the team on the biggest stages. His performances have reflected a player who has overcome significant challenges in his career to reach the peak of the domestic and European game.

Before arriving in the West Country, Hill had been a key figure at Worcester Warriors. In June 2020 he signed a contract extension that was set to keep him at Worcester until 2024, and a month later he was appointed club captain. He led Worcester to victory in the 2021 to 2022 Premiership Rugby Cup final, where they defeated London Irish after extra time to secure the only top flight trophy in the club’s history.

However, Worcester’s collapse in October 2022 saw Hill’s contract terminated along with those of his teammates.

Hill had joined Bath on loan only days before Worcester’s demise, and in October 2022 it was confirmed that his move would be made permanent. He became an integral member of Bath’s squad during the 2022 to 2023 season, although the following campaign was disrupted by a serious leg injury that sidelined him until the new year.

On his return, he showed no drop in standards and helped drive Bath to the Premiership final against Northampton Saints, a match they narrowly lost despite playing much of it with fourteen men.

The following season brought silverware. Hill started in the EPCR Challenge Cup final as Bath defeated Lyon in Cardiff to lift their first European trophy in seventeen years. A month later, he was again in the starting line up as Bath beat Leicester Tigers in the 2025 Premiership final to become champions of England for the first time since 1996.

Internationally, Hill has represented England at under-16, under-18 and under-120 level, and made his senior debut in 2018 after receiving a call up from former head coach Eddie Jones. He returned to the England matchday squad during the 2025 Six Nations and featured as the team finished runners up.

Speaking about his new deal, Hill said: “To be renewing my contract at Bath is a really special moment for me. I have loved being part of this club, working alongside an amazing group of players and coaches whilst also playing in front of the amazing fans at The Rec.

“To extend my contract is really exciting as we continue to push for bigger and better things together as a club.”

Head of Rugby Johann van Graan added: “What a great journey Ted Hill has been on since his arrival at Bath. Not only has he developed into one of the best players in England, but he has crept deep into everyone’s heart at our club.

“We are very glad that Ted will be continuing his journey with us here in the Blue, Black and White.”
