From Military Service to Rugby Stardom

Brown left school at 17 and joined the Royal Marines as a musician, serving for 13 years across various locations, including RAF Northolt, Deal, London, Bristol, and Portsmouth. After leaving the military, he transitioned into a professional rugby career, playing as a winger and fullback. He spent six years in the English Premiership with Richmond RFC and Bristol RFC, and also represented the Royal Navy and Combined Services rugby teams.

Representing England on the International Stage

Between 1998 and 2001, Brown was part of the England Elite squad. He competed at the World Sevens in Paris, earned three caps for the England 'A' team, and secured two full England caps in 1998, playing against Australia and South Africa. Despite these accomplishments, Brown revealed that his search for his biological family meant more than his rugby accolades.

"Better Than Playing for England"

Now 45, Brown described meeting his biological mother and sister as the highlight of his life. "It was incredible, it was like we'd never been apart," he said. "Even representing England, singing the national anthem in front of 50,000 people, it doesn’t top that."
His daughter Olivia played a key role in motivating him to find his family. He realised the deep bond between parents and children, something he hadn't fully understood before.

Unconditional Love and Closure

Reflecting on the reunion, Brown acknowledged the love and support from his adoptive parents, but admitted there was a void only his biological family could fill. "It's just a feeling of unconditional love which I never experienced before. That’s not taking anything away from my mum and dad who brought me up, but it eats away at you," he said.
For Brown, the meeting helped heal a deep emotional wound and provided him with a sense of closure that even the highs of playing for England couldn’t match.
