England head coach Eddie Jones latest call-up to his summer squad is uncapped Bristol Bears forward Sam Jeffries, who has had a rather unique rugby journey so far.
The athletic back row forward, who can also operate in the second row, flies down under this evening and will join up with the squad in Perth ahead of Saturday's First Test.
Here are five things you probably didn't know about the loose forward.
#1. Taking a break from the game
In 2019, But, after a frustrating 12 months out with a knee injury, the 26-year-old has begun a break from the professional game,d embarking on a secondment into the club’s backroom staff. He took on the role of Professional Development Manager (PDM), sourcing and organising opportunities for the players and staff away from the pitch.
#2. Return to play
After two years away from the pitch. he made his return in June 2021.
#3. Sailor
During the summer, he can often be found as part of the Sailing crew on board Thames Sailing Barges.
#4. Not a bad try-scorer
#5. Partner
He proposed to his long-term partner Suze Pattison back in August 2020
