Harlequins release statement following brutal defeat against Northampton Saints

It hasn't been the most pleasant period for Harlequins lately, as highlighted in a joint statement from chief executive officer Laurie Dalrymple and chairman David Morgan.

The Gallagher Prem side endured a frustrating and agonising 66-21 at cinch Stadium at Franklin's Gardens, Northampton, on Saturday. This was their seventh defeat in their last nine outings for the Twickenham Stoop side, who currently sit eighth, five points above Newcastle Red Bulls, who are tenth.

With the Champions Cup set to start back up next weekend, and with the top of the United Rugby Championship, Stormers heading to the Stoop and a trip to La Rochelle in the coming weeks, there is a growing concern among Quins supporters.

The statement on Sunday morning read: "Performances and results in the men’s team are not at the level we expect at Harlequins and are not considered acceptable by anyone within the club.

“Everyone is working tirelessly and urgently to address this, and to deliver the necessary on-pitch improvements.

“Whilst some elements of change will take a relatively short period of time to implement, others will take longer.

"It is critical that such change is carefully considered and will evidently deliver the performance levels we are committed to.

“The board, players, coaches and staff all share the disappointment felt by our supporters. Your support and continued patience during this challenging period for the club is recognised and greatly appreciated
