Henry Pollock brainfart proves costly for Saints against Bath

It was a match that will live long in the memory—exhilarating, electrifying, and intoxicating from start to finish. Unfortunately for Northampton, there had to be a loser.

Bath emerged victorious in the closing moments when Finn Russell calmly converted Ted Hill’s late try to seal a stunning comeback win.

The Saints appeared to be in complete control after a breathtaking first half that produced nine tries.

They raced into an early lead, with Pollock and Fraser Dingwall crossing within the opening six minutes after Miles Reid was sin-binned.

Northampton continued to run Bath ragged with some superb attacking rugby, adding three further tries to establish a commanding 21-point advantage.

Despite the onslaught, Bath refused to fade. Showing tremendous resilience, they stayed in contention with four tries of their own.

The momentum began to shift after the break, and Kepu Tuipulotu’s second-half score reduced Northampton’s lead to just five points, setting up a tense finale.

The decisive moment arrived late in the game when Hill powered over for the match-winning try. Russell’s composed conversion ultimately separated the sides, while Pollock’s late yellow card compounded Northampton’s frustration.

Bath now progress to the semi-finals, where they will face either Toulouse or Bordeaux in May.
