"High-quality candidate" - All Blacks confirm major appointment

On Monday, the union confirmed the appointments of Chris Kinraid as chief financial officer and Chris Brown as chief commercial officer. Both will join NZ Rugby’s executive team at the end of February.

NZ Rugby chair David Kirk said the process attracted strong interest from candidates both at home and overseas.

“Both roles attracted high-quality candidates from New Zealand and offshore,” Kirk said.

“After a thorough process, the board is confident these appointments strengthen the capability of our executive team to deliver a successful, growing and profitable organisation.”

Brown brings extensive experience in global brand marketing and customer strategy — a key asset as NZ Rugby looks to grow revenue and expand its commercial reach.

The bigger question remains who will take charge of the All Blacks, with several high-profile names being floated.

Jamie Joseph is widely viewed as a leading contender. The current Highlanders coach and former Japan boss has strong ties to New Zealand rugby and international experience.

Dave Rennie is another prominent candidate. The former Chiefs and Wallabies coach is currently working in Japan and has a proven Super Rugby and Test résumé.

Experienced former All Blacks coaches Steve Hansen and Graham Henry have also been mentioned in speculation, potentially in advisory or short-term capacities.

Joe Schmidt, the former Ireland head coach and ex-All Blacks assistant, continues to be discussed thanks to his track record at the highest level.
