The 33-year-old from Aboyne has become one of rugby’s most prominent trailblazers since transitioning into officiating in 2015, after injuries brought an early end to her playing career. Just two years later, she made history as Scotland’s first full-time professional female referee.

Davidson’s rise through the ranks has been steady and impressive. In 2021, she officiated her first Pro14 fixture between Munster and Benetton, before taking charge of the 1872 Cup derby between Glasgow Warriors and Edinburgh Rugby in 2022.

On the international stage, she was part of an all-female officiating team for Portugal v Italy in 2022, further underlining her growing reputation within the game.

Her career has continued on an upward trajectory ever since. In 2024, Davidson became the first woman to referee a Test match involving South Africa when she oversaw their clash with Portugal.
