REVEALED: How Alun Wyn Jones actually helped Joe Marler get a reduced ban

It's been revealed by rugby scribe Alex Lowe that Alun Wyn Jones actually helped Joe Marler receive a lower ban.
Despite being annoyed post-match, the Wales captain declined to provide a written statement to be used as evidence in the England props hearing, which is thought to have gone a long way to Marler receiving a relatively low ban of 10 weeks.
Similarly, George North also declined to provide a written statement after Manu Tuilagi was dismissed for a dangerous tackle on the Wales wide-man.
It was confirmed yesterday that Marler and Tuilagi will be free to play rugby when sport returns after the coronavirus shutdown.
While World Rugby disciplinary guidelines indicate each week of the ban must correspond to a meaningful match, the disciplinary panel concluded they were unable to adjust the sanctions in the wake of the pandemic.
