Hugo Keenan announces engagement as England stars send congratulations

The couple shared a smiling photograph on Instagram, with Emma showing off her engagement ring alongside the caption: “11/9/26 ??”.

They have been together for more than five years, with Emma regularly supporting Keenan from the stands during his international career.

Several of Keenan’s British & Irish Lions teammates were among those congratulating the couple.

England captain Maro Itoje wrote: “Congratulations my friend ??”.

Marcus Smith added a playful message: “Congratulations Barry ? hope you are well mate ✌?”.

Ben Earl used the same nickname, commenting: “Congrats Barry ! ❤️”.

Ireland teammates also responded, with Josh van der Flier writing “Congratulations ❤️” and Finlay Bealham adding “Congrats guys ❤️❤️”.

Jessica O’Mahony, wife of former Ireland captain Peter, commented: “Amazing news guys ?”.

The engagement follows the couple buying their first home together.

Speaking to EVOKE earlier this year, Keenan explained that Emma’s father had helped modernise the property, drawing on decades of experience in the building industry.

Keenan said the project had provided a welcome distraction during his recovery from hip surgery.

He also revealed an unexpected interest in interiors as the couple put their own stamp on the house, with help from their families along the way.
