"I give everything"- Alex Mann reacts to record-breaking Six Nations performance

In the contest, Steve Tandy, who only recently announced a new defence coach in Peter Murchie, would have been pleased with his side’s efforts without the ball. In total, Wales made 240 tackles, with standout Alex Mann making an impressive record-breaking 32 tackles.

The Cardiff Rugby player set a new record in the tournament after surpassing the previous record of 31, held by both Guilhem Guirado and Luke Charteris.

The flanker was Wales’ best player throughout the encounter, as the blind-side worked tirelessly throughout.

Speaking following the encounter, Mann said:

“The way I look at it, I’ve gotta do my job for the person next to me, for the coaches. I have a job to do when I go out there.”

“So I give everything I’ve got when I go out on the pitch. That’s where we hold ourselves now (being strong in defence)

"We’re all listening to each other. We’re all working for each other. The person next to you, who you know, is putting their body on the line for you.

“So it’s an exciting thing for us in both attack and defence. It’s pretty exciting, and it’s something to look forward to.”

It was not just the heroics of the 24-year-old, but also those of Dafydd Jenkins, James Botham, and Dewi Lake that made impressive numbers.

For Mann’s clubmate Botham, he has enjoyed a welcome return to the international arena following back-to-back positive outings against Scotland and Ireland.

“Yeah, it’s brilliant,” continued Mann on the strength that has been shown in Wales’ back-row.

"We all get on really well as well. The competition is really good. Sometimes you play, sometimes you don’t, but I think it only makes you better. So, yeah, it’s only positive, I think, for me.”

“There’s some quality back-row players in Wales, there’s no doubt about that. It’s just improving and seeing where we go with it.”

Despite still not winning, Wales put in another fine performance under head coach Tandy.

This comes after embarrassing performances against both England and France, as Wales looks to be competitive as the championship heads for its conclusion.

They entertain Italy next Saturday following their first-ever win against England at Stadio Olimpico, where Wales will be aiming for their first triumph since the 2023 edition of the tournament.

On Wales’ last match of the Six Nations and winning, Mann added: “100% (we've got that confidence to win).
