Kevin Sinfield’s son Jack is continuing to make a name for himself after another huge display for Wakefield Trinity.
The 22-year-old played a key role as Wakefield stunned Wigan Warriors 33-6 to reach their first-ever Super League Grand Final.
Sinfield crossed for one of Wakefield’s tries as they blew the league leaders away in a remarkable second-half spell.
The young half-back spotted a gap in the Wigan defence and raced through to score, helping Trinity book their place at Old Trafford.
The Super League confirmed that Wakefield scored three tries in just seven minutes during that decisive spell, with Sinfield among those to cross.
His form will also do his hopes of future England recognition no harm.
England opportunity
Sinfield is still only 22 and is enjoying the best season of his young career.
According to his official Super League profile, he has made 20 appearances during the 2026 campaign, scoring three tries and providing 12 assists.
Competition for England places remains fierce, and there is no suggestion that a senior call-up has been decided.
However, another big performance on the Grand Final stage would certainly strengthen his case.
It has been some turnaround after Sinfield left Leeds Rhinos at the end of last season.
Wakefield handed him a three-year contract running until the end of 2028, with head coach Daryl Powell describing him as a young player who was “desperate to get to the top of the game”.
Making his own name
Carrying the Sinfield surname inevitably brings extra attention.
His dad, Sir Kevin Sinfield, became a legend with Leeds Rhinos before crossing codes and eventually joining England’s rugby union coaching set-up.
Jack came through the same Leeds academy and made his Super League debut in 2022.
But his move to Wakefield has given him the chance to step out of his father’s shadow.
He produced one of his best performances of the season against former club Leeds in August, setting up two tries before scoring himself. Sky Sports described Sinfield as “outstanding” on the night.
Now he has delivered again on an even bigger stage.
Special Sinfield moment awaits
There could hardly be a better ending to the season for the Sinfield family.
Wakefield will face Warrington Wolves at Old Trafford on Saturday, October 3, with a new name guaranteed to be added to the Super League trophy.
Kevin Sinfield is also due to be there.
The England coach will complete his latest 7 in 7 Challenge on Grand Final day before delivering the match ball at Old Trafford as he continues his extraordinary fundraising work for the MND community.
Waiting for him will be his son.
And Jack will have the chance to complete a remarkable breakthrough season by becoming a Super League champion.
