Scotland prop Zander Fagerson has confirmed he will miss the 2025 British & Irish Lions tour after suffering a fresh injury—just weeks before flying to Australia.

The 29-year-old tighthead was one of eight Scots named in the original squad, but his Lions dream has been cruelly crushed by untimely injury.
? Injury strikes again
Fagerson picked up a new injury last Thursday while still recovering from a previous knock.
Scotland head coach told the
Scotland Rugby Podcast:
"He was in the final stages of recovery, and I was still hopeful. But that didn’t transpire—really unfortunate for Zander."
"He was in brilliant form during the Six Nations and in a strong position to play Test rugby for the Lions."

Fagerson took to Instagram to share his heartbreak:

Despite the setback, Townsend is backing his man to return stronger than ever.

Farrell adds THREE more players to his British & Irish Lions squad
The trio will link up with the squad in Portugal next week as preparations continue for the fixture against Argentina at the Aviva Stadium on Friday, 20 June, followed by the Lions’ tour opener against the Western Force in Perth on 28 June.

A name on the rise, Opoku-Fordjour’s call-up caps off a breakthrough season for the Sale Sharks tighthead.
