LIST: 5 Things You Didn't Know About Tom Curry

Here are five things you might not know about the world-class England and Sale SHarks back-rower.

They are the son of Bishop Heber High School Head Teacher David Curry and nephew of former England hooker John Olver and cousin of Ealing Trailfinders fly-half Sam Olver.

John was known for his aggressive style of play and holds the somewhat undesirable record for spending the most number of minutes on the England substitutes bench.

He was chosen as captain for the 1993 England rugby union tour of Canada and led England in the two international matches against Canada, for which full caps were not awarded.

It is true that Tom Curry had a trial at Manchester City, who the twins support, but that was scuppered by Tom scoring an own goal.

"One day, scouts from Manchester City came to watch our school team play. I was running on the stairs, tripped over and split my shin open, so ended up getting rushed to hospital and couldn't play. Luckily the scouts were impressed with Ben at centre-back and when they found out he had an identical twin they were like: 'Great, bring them both along.'

"A few months down the line, we were playing for City against this Dutch team. I tried to head the ball back to the goalkeeper but instead placed a beautiful header straight past him into the goal.

"And that was that. That was our football career over. So, long story short, Ben got us in and I got us out!"

Probably for the best.

Tom made his professional debut against Scarlets on 15 October 2016 in the European Champions Cup, becoming the fourth-youngest English player and youngest Sale Sharks player to have played in the competition.

He then became the youngest player to start at flanker for England when he made his debut in 2017, and the youngest England forward since 1912.

The only way you can tell them apart is by their hair. Tom has his styled to the right while Ben has his swept to the left.

The duo played for Sale FC in National 2 League North before making their debut for Sale Sharks in the Gallagher Premiership.
