Louis Rees-Zammit is now one of the highest-paid players in the Gallagher Prem

The club have not confirmed the length of the 24-year-old’s deal but described it as a long-term commitment, underlining how highly they value one of the most explosive backs in the game.

Rees-Zammit returned to rugby union last summer after his spell in the NFL and has wasted little time making an impact.

The wing or full-back has scored six tries in eight appearances for Pat Lam’s side and has looked right at home since pulling on a Bristol shirt.

Director of rugby Pat Lam was full of praise for his star man.

“Louis is a world-class talent and someone who embodies the way we want to play at Bristol Bears,” said Lam.
“Since coming back from the NFL, he's shown incredible professionalism and hunger to keep improving. His speed, power and skill set are obvious, but what really stands out is his willingness to learn, adapt and deliver on the biggest stage.”

Lam also believes the former British and Irish Lion – who toured in 2021 – still has another level to reach.

“He's only just scratching the surface of his ability,” he added.
“If he keeps progressing on this journey, he has everything it takes to become one of the very best players in the world.”

Rees-Zammit admitted he was delighted to commit his future to Bristol.

“I'm incredibly happy to have committed my future to Bristol Bears. This is the perfect club for me and I'm excited to see what we can achieve here,” he said.
“The environment here allows me to express myself and play the game the way I love, and that brings out the best in me.
“Running out at Ashton Gate in front of huge crowds and feeling that energy from the fans is special, and it makes me excited about what we can build together in the years ahead.”

With his future secured and his form continuing to impress, Bristol will be hoping their star man can help drive them towards silverware in the seasons to come.
