'Missed by the Wallabies' - WATCH: Mark Nawaqanitawase scores 'Try of the Decade' contender in NRL match

A former New South Wales Waratahs man in Super Rugby, and an 11-capped Wallaby on the Test match stage, Nawaqantiwase is now plying his trade in Rugby League, and his latest score is already being heralded as the 'try of the decade'. It is an unbelievable finish that combines power, footballing ability and out-right audacity to pull it off, and has rightfully done the rounds on social media.

British & Irish Lions fans would be delighted to know that Nawaqantiwase will be playing no part in the upcoming Summer tour, as Joe Schmidt can only watch from afar as his former Wallabies star is enjoying pastures new following a code switch. Nawaqanitawase began his professional rugby union career with the Waratahs in 2020, making an immediate impact by scoring two tries on debut against the Crusaders. His performances in Super Rugby earned him a spot in the Australia A squad and subsequently led to his Wallabies debut against Italy during the 2022 Autumn Nations Series.

Nawaqanitawase was apart of the Wallabies' regrettable 2023 Rugby World Cup campaign, which saw Australia eliminated from the pool stages for the first time in their history. Shortly after the RWC in December 2023, he announced the code switch to rugby league, and signed a two-year deal with the Sydney Roosters starting in 2025. After starring for Australia Sevens at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, he made his NRL debut earlier than expected in September 2024, and scored a try within six minutes against South Sydney.
