Outcome decided for postponed Challenge Cup match

The European Professional Club Rugby (EPCR) confirmed the decision following the postponement of the match, which had been due to take place in the Netherlands. Under EPCR competition regulations, the cancellation meant Ulster were granted the win by default.

The outcome followed a series of venue changes caused by severe weather conditions. The game had originally been scheduled to be played in Amsterdam but was moved to an alternative venue in ’s-Hertogenbosch after concerns over the impact of the weather.

EPCR had announced that the match would be played behind closed doors at Dukes Rugby in ’s-Hertogenbosch, after inspections on Friday led to the decision to abandon the Amsterdam venue. Rugby Nederland, the Toyota Cheetahs and EPCR had worked together to identify the replacement location.

However, despite the relocation, the fixture was subsequently postponed and then cancelled altogether.

Many supporters had already travelled to the Netherlands by the time the changes were confirmed, leaving a number of fans facing a wasted trip.
