RUMOUR: Nick Abendanon to put retirement on ice and make Premiership return

Nick Abendanon had spoken of his frustration at potentially having to quit rugby after seeing his hopes of a Premiership swansong torpedoed by the coronavirus crisis.
The fullback had held talks with the San Diego Legion in the US and had been linked with a return to the English Premiership with London Irish.
However, with January’s Covid-19 outbreak hitting rugby finances around the globe, Abendanon, told , Bath have made contact with the 33-year-old to discuss a possible return to The Rec after six years at Clermont Auvergne.
The Rugby Paper: “I’m out of contract at the end of June and had a couple of potential options that looked very promising, but both of those have dried up.
“That’s obviously disappointing and at this stage it looks as though I’m going to be hanging up my boots, unless something else comes along in the next three months.”
Nevertheless, according to RUCK sources
It's thought the Blue, Black and Whites are looking to sign him to an initial three-month contract with a view to a one-year deal when rugby restarts again properly.

1. Josh Matavesi

The injury has ruled him out for the season but he is working his way back to full fitness.
3. Tom Homer
The fullback has been unlucky not to get a new deal at the club having started 11 out of 13 rounds of the Premiership this season in the 15 jersey, scoring three tries in the process. Newcastle Falcons are said to be interested in signing the Premiership veteran.
4. Freddie Burns
The fly-half is arguably the biggest name player on this list having returned to his hometown club from Leicester Tigers ahead of the 2017/18 season but this season he has become a bit part player. He has been linked with a move to Top 14 leaders Lyon and also reportedly has offers from Super Rugby clubs.
5. Will Chudley
The scrum half has started eight Premiership games this season with another three appearances off the bench as he and Chris Cook have competed for the nine jersey for most of the 2019/20 campaign. Could be forced out by the expected arrival of Ben Spencer on a three-year contract.
