The London side leapfrogged Bristol into fifth place and closed the gap on Exeter, who slipped up against Harlequins earlier in the day. Gloucester, meanwhile, dropped to ninth and, as things stand, out of the Champions Cup qualification spots for next season.
The standout moment came from an unlikely source.
With his kicking game and tactical nous already legendary, Owen Farrell added another skill to his CV by stepping into the line-out and delivering a series of pinpoint throws.
The fly-half looked remarkably comfortable with the darts, drawing plenty of laughs and admiration from supporters.
The moment quickly went viral, especially given the contrast to Henry Pollock’s now-infamous emergency line-out throw last week, which sailed wildly off target.
Even Saracens’ official Instagram account joined in on the joke, commenting: “Someone send this to Pollock.”
Fans loved it:
  • “Love this! Impressive skills ? (from a Saints supporter)” – @lucy__jl
  • “Pretty good effort!!! ??” – @lineoutlab
  • “???” – @ashleigh_wilmot
  • “I love Owen Farrell so much.” – @riordan_h
  • “GOAT” – @aki_mars
  • “My goat for a reason.” – @aaronmaher200682
  • “First one looked like a football throw in ? but great to see him enjoying the moment ?” – @marc_cunn
Farrell may not be challenging Jamie George for the No. 2 shirt just yet, but judging by the reaction online, Saracens fans are more than happy to add “backup hooker” to the long list of talents possessed by their captain.
