Scotland International departs Edinburgh immediately, bound for America

The Seattle Seawolves kicked off their offseason moves Friday, announcing the signing of Scottish center Mark Bennett. Listed at 6-foot, 200 pounds, Bennett is more than just a center—he can slot on the wing or cover either midfield spot with ease.

Bennett has been tearing up professional rugby since the 2011-12 Pro12 season, splitting his time between Glasgow Warriors and Edinburgh Rugby (now both in the URC), with a brief stint in France early on.

The 32-year-old brings serious experience: 162 caps, 141 starts, 40 tries, 7 conversions, 8 penalties, and 238 points since 2013-14.

He’s featured in four Six Nations campaigns and started four games for Scotland at the 2015 Rugby World Cup, crossing for three tries. His most recent outing came off the bench at outside center in Scotland’s 31-23 loss to the All Blacks on Nov. 13, 2022.

Bennett is expected to slot in at outside center this season, complementing returning veteran Dan Kriel at inside. His arrival could shake up the Seawolves backline—and with one of seven international slots per gameday now taken, he’s set to make an immediate impact.
