Scotland player ratings vs England as Gregor Townsend's men bounced back from defeat last week to beat their biggest rivals.

Scotland roared back into the Six Nations with fire in their bellies, shredding England in a breathless, bonus-point Calcutta Cup demolition at a rocking Murrayfield.

With Finn Russell pulling every string and England left scrambling in his wake, the Scots played with a savage edge and icy precision that their rivals simply could not live with. This was no hangover from Rome — this was a side reborn, ruthless and relentless when it mattered most.

15. Tom Jordan 7

Good steal from an in-play maul. Great hands on the ball, with strong and accurate long passes. Much better than last week, but mostly due to not having much on his plate. Good playmaking in the build-up to Scotland’s scores in the first half.

14. Kyle Steyn 8

Good runs and offloading. Huge tackling efforts. Good clearing kicks and great in the air, cementing his selection.

13. Huw Jones 9.5

Opening try scorer and huge momentum starter for Scotland. Got a second try with a great run from halfway after Fagerson charged down a drop goal. Held up an England try and delivered great carries.

12. Sione Tuipulotu (c) 8

Great kick in the first few plays, forcing England immediately onto the back foot. Good leadership and communication with his teammates and the referee. Strong carries and great tackling in sync with his fellow centre.

11. Jamie Dobie 8

Great in the air and under the high ball. Real threat to England and also provided a great defensive shift.

10. Finn Russell 9.5

Solidified momentum with an early penalty kick. Some great footwork saw him carry well and execute well-placed kicks under pressure. 100% kicking success. Great long and skip passes.

9. Ben White 9

Right place at the right time. Gathered a loose ball from Genge and scored Scotland’s third try. Good in-play kicking with the right placement and timing.

1. Nathan McBeth 6

Strong carries and tackling efforts. Did his job as a prop.

2. George Turner 6.5

Strong in the collisions and at the breakdown. Good lineout, much better set-piece display than versus Italy.

3. Zander Fagerson 7

Very strong carries but gave away penalties at scrum time.

4. Gregor Brown 7

Strong tackles but unfortunately gave away a penalty for holding on on the ground. Despite hurting his shoulder, he stepped up to the line and took a tackle which led to a penalty.

5. Scott Cummings 7.5

Stopped a maul try with a great defensive effort to cap off his strong work rate and dominant breakdown work.

6. Jamie Ritchie 7.5

Great positioning in the build-up to Scotland’s second try. Injured at the end of the first half, unfortunately, and was seen on crutches at full time. Tackled well and was a commanding presence in the pack.

7. Rory Darge 8.5

Great tackling, a classic behind-the-scenes player. Huge drive pushing Ben Earl into touch. Great dominance on the floor and a commanding defensive presence.

8. Jack Dempsey 7

Good ball carries. Great threat and pressure on the ground, keeping England on their toes.

16. Dave Cherry 7

Good lineout throws, got himself into every collision. Good power off the bench.

17. Pierre Schoeman 8

Made an immediate improvement to Scotland’s scrum when he came on. Transformed the front row with great dominant carries and tackles.

18. Elliot Millar-Mills 7

Try-saving tackle on Mitchell between the posts. Good scrummaging force off the bench.

19. Max Williamson 6.5

Came on and did his job. Good lineout operator.

20. Matt Fagerson 8

Charged down George Ford to deny a juicy drop-goal attempt in the second half — setting up Huw Jones for his second try in the process. A key moment that denied England any momentum in the second half.

21. George Horne 7

Tackled Henry Pollock, forcing a knock-on. No complaints.

22. Adam Hastings 6

Only came on for the last two minutes.

23. Darcy Graham 6.5

Struggled to immediately fill Jordan’s shoes. Strong aerial threat and pressured the high ball. A dazzling solo run past several players looked impressive, but with no support he gave away a penalty. Executed a try-saving tackle to knock off any momentum England were grasping at.
