We’ve decided to see who was every teams best player and maybe more controversially their worst as Wales on the Grand Slam:
WALES:
BEST PERFORMER: Alun Wyn Jones - For him, the battle is the pleasure. An absolute warrior, he hurt his left knee after 10 minutes but gamely played on, making a mark with powerful carries and defiant carrying. An inspiration who must surely be favourite to be named player of the tournament.
WORST PERFORMER: Josh Adams - Gave away a cheap penalty by needlessly tripping Keith Earls. A very quiet game but he's had a fine tournament.
IRELAND:
BEST PERFORMER: James Ryan - He outfoxed Alun Wyn Jones for a grab against the throw, but didn't do as well on his own as a caller. Still Ireland's best player
WORST PERFORMER: Sean O'Brien - The decorated flanker is not the player of old. He toiled for every minute without matching his effort with impact. The trademark go-forward was absent and there was no surprise to witness his removed after 51 minutes
ENGLAND:
BEST PERFORMER: KYLE SINCKLER - Smart support running for the third try. Great hands to knock back Jack Nowell’s tap-back to support from the high ball on the touchline. Hard to believe he’s a prop sometimes, his skillset is excellent.
WORST PERFORMER: Owen Farrell - Some nice passing and kicking, which started to grate later as he insisted on repeated up and unders, but he started to lose his head as the match went on. His standard useful aggression turned to a bit of venom and he was remarkably only penalised for a late shoulder charge on D’Arcy Graham. He was substituted shortly after for Ford. Kicked too much.
SCOTLAND:
BEST PERFORMER: Finn Russell - Was magnificent at times, and you can’t help but wonder what might have been in 2019 had Scotland’s back division not been so depleted.
WORST PERFORMER: Allan Dell - His great afternoon against the Welsh must have felt a distant memory at half-time. Stuck with it though faced with a dominating English pack
