Statement: Leicester Tigers coach departs with immediate effect

Davies initially joined Tigers three years ago on a part-time basis before becoming the club's full-time first-team skills and kicking coach in 2025, as part of Geoff Parling's coaching team.

In a brief statement released by the club, Parling said: "We thank Al for his contribution to the club. He coaches with real enthusiasm and drive to improve and we wish him all the best as he moves on."

Tigers have confirmed that Davies' replacement will be announced next week.

The 40-year-old has been appointed by Steve Tandy, who was supported by former Wales internationals Rhys Patchell and Leigh Halfpenny during his first campaign as head coach.

A former half-back, Davies has previously held coaching roles with the Netherlands, Rosslyn Park and England women.

His new position will see him work with Wales during Test windows, while also coaching individual players throughout the season and supporting age-grade talent.

"There's an exciting journey ahead for Welsh rugby and I can't wait to get started and be a part of it," said Davies, who will officially start his role on 1 September.

Tandy added: "It's great to have Alex join the coaching team. He's a very talented coach who will be another asset for us as a group," said Tandy, who is also looking to appoint an attacking skills assistant.

"I can't wait for him to join us and to help continue shaping our identity as we head into the next phase of the Nations Championship with our three home games this November."
