Transfer News: Saracens confirm departures of ten players

McFarland has been confirmed as moving to France next season and, although his next club has not been officially announced, he is expected to join Atlantic coast side La Rochelle.

Van Zyl will leave the club to return to his native South Africa, and in similar fashion to McFarland, his next club hasn't yet been announced.

After making 100+ appearances for the club, the scrum-half departs as a Premiership champion, famously scoring in the 2023 final victory over Sale Sharks.

Another high profile exit to France is Tom Willis, who revealed he will leave Saracens at the end of the campaign to return to the Top 14, a move that will make him unavailable for England selection.

Willis became a regular part of the England setup during his spell at Saracens, earning eight international caps. He is set to join reigning Champions Cup holders Bordeaux-Begles, who could secure back-to-back European titles in Bilbao next week.

Also heading to France, Perpignan have completed the signing of Italy international tighthead Marco Riccioni on a three year contract once his current deal expires this summer.

There is a strong possibility Perpignan could be playing in Pro D2 next season, with the Catalan side currently sitting second from bottom in the Top 14 table.

The remaining departures will stay in England across a range of clubs, with three players joining Newcastle Red Bulls.

Versatile back Brandon Jackson has agreed a two year deal at Kingston Park from next season, while Cameron Hutchison, who joined the Red Bulls as injury cover this year, has extended his stay by another season.

Samson Adejimi initially arrived at Newcastle on loan at the start of the campaign but will now complete a permanent move on a one year contract.

Also heading north, long serving Saracens back Alex Lozowski has signed a two year deal with Sale Sharks after spending a decade at the London club.

Lozowski won five England caps, the most recent coming in 2018, and was also included in last year’s Six Nations squad.

Scrum-half Gareth Simpson will join Ealing Trailfinders, while Gloucester born forward Harry Wilson, who is capable of playing across the back five of the scrum, will move to Exeter Chiefs after two seasons with Saracens.
