Ugo Monye on Steve Borthwick: England need to start talking about head coach's future

It has been a roller-coaster of a Six Nations campaign for England, having entered the competition on the back of an 11 match winning streak. This form continued into a stunning opening round win over Wales, before Borthwick's side capitulated in losing efforts against Scotland, Ireland and now Italy.

Speaking after the match to match broadcaster ITV, Ugo Monye has called for action from the England camp. With 'Super Saturday' on the horizon in the form of a daunting trip across to France to close out the campaign, Monye was calling for accountability following England's third-straight defeat.

"[The conversation about Borthwick's future] has to start now. You look at the last couple of weeks. He gave faith to players before the loss to Ireland - then he rang a load of changes, and that didn't work.

"You look at the teams in the Six Nations. France are top, and tracking pretty well. Scotland are getting better. Italy are getting better. Wales are getting better. England are on the slide.

"How do you arrest it? It's only ever one of two things. It's the players or the coach. At the moment, I don't think the potential of the players is being met by the vision of the coach."

France were too stunned in yesterday's Six Nations action, as Scotland ran in an astonishing 50-40 triumph to blow the title race wide open. France, Scotland and Ireland can all still get their hands on the title, which makes for an intriguing end to the competition across this coming Saturday.
